About Muse Africa

Hello, I’m Michelle and the designer and brand strategist behind Muse Africa.

This story began a few years ago with a collection of Protea illustrations, the traditional flower of South Africa representing change & hope.

I studied Fine Art, Marketing and have a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture which led to an extensive career in Brand development and Marketing. In search for a more balanced life, flexibility and creative work that would bring me joy I left the corporate world behind and moved to Wilderness along the Garden Route in the Western Cape. I now live on the Kingfisher Trail surrounded by nature.

My roots in Fine Art formed the basis for the first Muse Africa designs and ranges. Inspired by nature these designs were centered around botanical themes.

The first collections were paper-based and featured works I created through an artistic exploration of a variety of media. The images and illustrations were produced from linocuts, oils, acrylic, pastels, charcoal, watercolour and my favourite, cyanotypes. The boutiques I was supplying loved my paper products so much that they started requesting fabric products too. And that is how a particular story about proteas translated into the first Muse Africa Naturals fabric range.

Muse Africa now proudly supplies boutiques countrywide with a variety of quality natural linen products. We manufacture locally and with a passion for good design, quality craftmanship and beautiful imagery I carefully curate all designs, colours and product styles. We also create bespoke products for brands such as Klein Constantia, Madam Botany, Organic Living and Oh So Boho.
